What You Need To Know About iPhone 12’s Camera

A coffee chat.

Man, oh man. Our excitement boils over the brim when we watch the annual Apple Keynote for a new iPhone. This year was especially cool when considering their immense hard work and production value behind their remote performance. I mean, those transitions?! They made the entire event all the more worthwhile. We’d be interested in seeing a BTS vlog, Tim Cook!

Something super important to consider when purchasing your next iPhone 12 are the added accessories. Make a movie with your phone and get the best iPhone 12 gimbals, cases, filters, and more.

The Camera, Yay!

Enough of the fluff, we want to get to the heart of everyone’s favorite component: the camera. Apple usually comes in full swing every year when announcing their latest and greatest; they certainly didn't skip the meat and potatoes on this one. With impeccable improvements to Deep Fusion and night mode photography, the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 both have dual rear cameras with wide and ultra wide angles. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max kick it up a notch with triple rear cameras, telephoto lenses, lidar sensors for depth tracking, and 4x and 5x optical zoom for crisp and clear detail.

There’s a big focus on computational photography, as well, with this latest generation honing in on Smart HDR 3, stunning new night mode capabilities, and extremely awesome low light improvements blessed with a 7-elemented glass component. The iPhone 12 has a 12-megapixel f/1.6 main camera — the fastest aperture in any iPhone of any generation — and a 12MP ultra-wide. This will be rather remarkable when considering how well the low-light aperture was on the iPhone 11 generation.

For those needing a little pick-me-up for after all day shoots, Apple has sought to improve wireless charging capabilities on the 12th generation. This contains a trademarked “MagSafe” system with a built-in magnet to guarantee that the iPhone will properly line up with any supported MagSafe accessories. The company will also be introducing a dual wireless charger for the iPhone and Apple watch that fully utilizes this new MagSafe energy.

Loads of Power

We can’t go without talking about the world's fastest bionic chip in the entire smartphone industry. The A14 Bionic will power the iPhone 12 — that's the same chipset we’ve seen with the confirmed iPad Air 4 — making itself the world's first chipset at 5nm. Apple claims it’s nearly 40% more powerful than the predecessor’s A13 in the iPhone 11 series. You’ll also have a choice of either 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. While this is a huge claim and shoe to step into, we’re stoked to soon get this baby in our hands and test the true power of video shoots on this chip.

Overall, this was an exciting event and we’re fairly stoked to get this phone in our hands as soon as possible. We’re wanting to test all the features we normally do in previous reviews, like our iPhone 11 shootout. Long-awaited pieces of tech get our juices flowing like a swift river, and we’re ready to dunk our heads in!
